SPICE FARM + STONE TOWN TOUR 🌿🏛️
1. SPICE FARM TOUR
Zanzibar produces cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, black pepper, turmeric, and tropical fruits. The farm tour is very interactive.
What you’ll do:
- Walk through the farm with a local guide – smell, touch, and taste spices right from the tree
- See how spices grow – clove tree, cinnamon bark, vanilla vine, pepper plant
- Fruit tasting – jackfruit, star fruit, coconut, tropical fruits in season
- Traditional hat weaving demo with palm leaves
- Spice shopping – you can buy fresh spices, oils, soaps at farm prices

About the Spice Farm Lunch:*
Most spice farms offer an optional *“Swahili lunch”* after the tour.
*What’s in it:* The food is cooked right there using fresh spices, herbs, and ingredients from the same farm you just visited.
*Examples:*
- *Pilau rice* with cloves, cinnamon, cardamom
- *Chicken or fish curry* with turmeric, ginger, black pepper
- *Vegetable curry* with coconut milk + fresh spices
- *Chapati* + tropical fruit for dessert
Time needed: 1.5 – 2 hours
Best time: Morning, before it gets too hot
2. STONE TOWN TOUR
UNESCO World Heritage Site. 200+ years of Swahili, Arab, Indian, and European influence. A private guide just for you/group so you can go at your own pace.
Main stops:
- House of Wonders & Palace Museum – Sultan history
- Old Slave Market & Anglican Cathedral – very powerful history
- Old Fort & Forodhani Gardens – photo spots
- Darajani Market – see local food, spices, fish
- Freddie Mercury House – outside photo
- Shopping streets – souvenirs, art, spices
